Profile – Finley Wegener

Finley Wegener is an audiovisual artist and musician practicing on the Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi lands of South East Queensland. Motivated by art’s capacity to connect audiences to their surroundings, Fin passionately crafts interactive performances that amplify and respond to environments and their ecology. Fin has presented installations and performances at SEQ festivals such as Brisbane Art & Design Festival, Horizon Festival, Yonder, and Outbound, as well as juried work in the International Symposium on Electronic Art 2024. With backgrounds in music, creative production and interactive technology, his portfolio has blurred lines between the participatory and the spectacle, with several works involving dance, interaction and environmental data as sources of unpredictable influence.
Thanks to the visionary support of the Sunshine Coast Council Creative Industries Investment Program, Anywhere Festivals is thrilled to announce Finley Wegener as one of the creatives Supported by Anywhere Festivals —a groundbreaking new initiative designed to elevate creative work beyond the conventional.
Confirm outcomes you want from Supported by Anywhere Festivals
“I hope that working with Anywhere Festivals will allow me to deliver a non-traditional musical activation in a local pristine environment. Largely, I hope the organisation will assist in liaising with local government and National Park organisations to secure a site and a date, then contribute to the promotion of the activation.” – Finley Wegener
Why being part of Supported by Anywhere Festivals is important to your project
“Being supported by Anywhere Festivals is important to this project as it helps to involve more local, diverse and experienced perspectives in the project’s conception. All new ideas and guidance from the organisation are greatly appreciated, as the notion of ‘non traditional’ projects and spaces suggests there are few blueprints or examples to follow. By working together, I believe we can produce an activation with heart; one that benefits from a collective appreciation of and connection to place.” – Finley Wegener
