Learn to re-wild your mind with Wild Vacancies-Urban Nature Adventure presented by Sally Guildford
Dr Gemma Regan
Re-wilding urban areas back to their original natural state is the in-thing. Now you can learn how to re-wild yourself in the urban environment of Yeronga behind the Paint Factory with Wild Vacancies and their Urban Nature Adventure walk.
In its fifth year after running in Melbourne and Darwin it was time for Brisbane to be at one with the birds. It is the ideal me-time opportunity to spend and hour in silence with Sally and Thea as you roam the urban lands of Yeronga and stop to hug a tree or sniff a flower in contemplation.
After a quick body shake the group pulled down their metaphorical veils to allow themselves time to be mindful of all that surrounds them. Adults and children alike enjoyed being reintroduced to the beauty of nature through mindful walking.
Who would have thought a quick tramp around an urban landscape could be so rejuvenating! Everyone seemed much calmer and chilled after time to absorb the urban landscape and sit amongst the trees guided by the ever-smiling Sally. It is a great opportunity to reprogram the mind and appreciate the small things in life and there is even a treasure hunt and a small gift at the end. Warning your mobile phone will be checked in at the beginning in exchange for a gum leaf for some technology free time, so worth it!
