Ō te Po! – Of the night!
Presented by Makareta KL
Where ceremony, grief, and truth collide.
A ceremonial performance by Māori storyteller Makareta KL, weaving lived experience, cultural ritual, and improvisation.
Rooted in aroha and ancestral connection, it reclaims space for Indigenous narrative and speaks into silence around suicide, grief, and memory.
Through the eyes of a 9-year-old kotiro and the voice of the woman she becomes, the work invites reflection, cultural presence, and shared witnessing. Wairua flows through every breath — offering a space where the unspoken is gently met, and humour rises as a compass in the dark.
