CAPRICHOS

On 29 & 30 April and 6 & 7 May, D.I.V.E. Theatre Collective present their highly-anticipated show Caprichos, in partnership with Anywhere Festival. The show will take place in the art gallery of the Old Ambulance Station, in Nambour.

Caprichos is an emotionally charged journey into the whims, caprices and desires of human nature.

In a world of labyrinths and mirrors, dreams and nightmares, a parade of surreal characters invite each audience member to contemplate how far they have drifted from their true selves in the name of vanity and social acceptance.

Inspired by Francisco de Goya’s Los Caprichos, D.I.V.E. Collective’s masquerade performance combines movement, visual arts, music, literature, philosophy, provocative narratives and multi-lingual perspectives into a succession of poetic moments that are both striking and deeply touching.

Devised by a spectacular ensemble of multicultural performers, who have metaphor as their common language, Caprichos is a timeless reflection on the duplicity, deceit and hypocrisy of contemporary society.

EXODUS will be performed at the Old Ambulance Station, in Nambour, QLD. It is designed for theatre goers 16+.

Dates: 29 & 30 April / 6 & 7 May 2022

ABOUT D.I.V.E THEATRE COLLECTIVE

We are a collective of theatre professionals, from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, based in the Sunshine Coast, QLD. Our aim is to investigate, experiment and create work in contemporary theatre integrating different areas of knowledge, art and

philosophy that, once touched, transform and reconfigure the theatrical scene.

We believe in collective creation, exchange of experiences and research, which open doors that make possible the encounter between the old and the new, thus generating new possibilities and meanings in performing arts. We believe theatre to be a powerful tool for

social change and movement the best form of theatrical expression.

By exploring themes such as belonging, cultural identity and displacement from our personal experiences, combined with research into physical theatre, dance, literature, visual arts, music, digital media, philosophy and other sources, our goal is to bring together like-minded

people to devise new works of art.

We also offer training for actors, dancers, musicians, visual artists, students, teachers and performing arts enthusiasts. Our program focuses on developing the dramatic and political potential in movement. Blending physical theatre, political theatre, devising techniques and immersive theatre practices, we place community engagement and the human body at the

centre of the theatrical process.
