Vacant Collective Theatre
Founded in 2016, Vacant Collective is a Brisbane-based theatre group committed to devising performances that offer a platform for thought-provoking, authentic storytelling. With a focus on themes that challenge societal norms around race, gender, and sexuality, the company aims to fill the “vacant” space for bold, progressive theatre in the local arts landscape.
Vacant Collective made its debut at the Short + Sweet Festival in 2016 and has since showcased work at numerous festivals across Brisbane, including the Anywhere Festival. The collective operates on a philosophy of inclusivity and creative freedom, inviting artists from all backgrounds to use the company as a canvas for original, boundary-pushing work.
In 2025, Vacant Collective returns to the Anywhere Festival with a dynamic team of creatives, united in their mission to reimagine the boundaries of traditional theatre.
