Treasurer – Volunteer Board Director

Anywhere Festivals is seeking a Treasurer to join our voluntary Board of Directors for a three-year term.

About Anywhere Festivals

Anywhere Festivals is Queensland’s largest festival of performance in non-traditional spaces. We support independent artists to present theatre, music, comedy, dance and interdisciplinary performance in homes, businesses, parks and unexpected locations.

The organisation is currently in a strong and stable position, with:

  • Four years of confirmed funding from the Queensland Government
  • Three years of confirmed funding from Brisbane City Council
  • Established governance systems and reporting frameworks
  • A small, experienced operational team

We are now seeking a Treasurer to help ensure the organisation is financially resilient and strategically positioned for its next phase.

About the Role

The Treasurer is a voluntary Board Director role and works collaboratively with the Chair, fellow Directors and the General Manager / Executive team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of financial governance and compliance
  • Working with staff on budgets and forecasting
  • Presenting clear financial reports to the Board
  • Supporting long-term financial planning and sustainability
  • Ensuring the organisation is left stronger at the end of your term

This is a strategic governance role with expectation that you can log in and find your way around MYOB to ask the required questions of the Anywhere Festivals Executive team.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has a background in finance, accounting or financial management
  • Understands not-for-profit governance (or is willing to learn)
  • Shows up consistently and contributes constructively
  • Is collaborative, pragmatic and solutions-focused
  • Wants to make a meaningful contribution to Queensland’s arts sector

Time Commitment

  • Board meetings (approx. 8 per year)
  • Occasional subcommittee or finance meetings
  • Preparation and review of financial documents from annual audits to grant applications
