1. Can I do more than one Festival?
Yes. If you’d like to perform in more than one Anywhere Festival location, simply indicate this on your Expression of Interest (EOI) form. Some artists choose to participate in multiple festivals to reach new audiences. Please note that there are different fee structures for each festival.
2. What are the key differences between each Festival?
Each Anywhere Festival has its own character shaped by its location, local audiences, and partners. Anywhere Festival Moreton Bay is known for its strong connection to community venues like halls, breweries, and cafes, and for the dedicated Creative Producer who supports artists from start to finish. The Creative Producer ensures the process is smooth, helps you make the most of opportunities, and guides you through everything from venue partnerships to marketing.
3. When are the Festivals On?
Moreton Bay: Thursday 7 May to Sunday 24 May, 2026
Brisbane: May 2026 with space for "Out Of Season" shows at other period in the year.
4. What’s your curation policy?
Moreton Bay
Anywhere Festival Moreton Bay is curated to provide opportunities to ofproducers local to City of Moreton Bay and further afield in South East Queensland by activating multiple locations around our polycentric city giving audiences live performance experiences close to where they live. The focus is on performances that thrive in unexpected spaces and connect with local audiences. A dedicated Creative Producer works alongside artists to support development, match them with suitable venues (at no cost), and provide guidance through the entire process.
Brisbane
We are looking for performances that make anywhere the stage. We have a preference for concepts that are using non traditional performance spaces. We are looking for a mix of shows but have no quotas. If half the top ideas are all cabaret or music or immersive then the festival will be more like that. Each year, the focus on each genre and shows changes because of what you are interested in developing. Where different expressions of interest are pitching what we feel are similar ideas, we will have a discussion with both groups.
5. Is it like a fringe festival?
Moreton Bay
Like a fringe festival, Anywhere Festival Moreton Bay is open for anyone to apply. The difference is that the final program is curated through a selection process. Once chosen, artists aren’t left to handle everything on their own or pay steep venue hire fees. Instead, venues are brokered by the Anywhere Festival Moreton Bay team and provided at no cost. A dedicated Creative Producer supports you with marketing and festival logistics and is available throughout the process for guidance and advice. You still get the freedom and energy of a fringe-style festival, but with the added guidance and resources to help you succeed.
Brisbane
It is like a fringe festival in that it makes it possible for you to produce what you want, where you want and take ultimate responsibility as the producer of the work. Anywhere is different in that we have a focus on discovery, on non traditional performance spaces, on partnerships and collaboration and having an artist first mentality instead of a festival first mentality. Other differences include our focus on assisting with venue brokerage with minimal or new costs and on providing the support and resources to develop your show. 6. Ok, so how much does it cost?
Moreton Bay
$295 for all the support and a guaranteed rent free venue for your performances. That's all made possible due to the amazing relationship with City of Moreton Bay and the Creative Producer helping you to make it happen. The only other cost from the festival is a 10% from the box office takings.
Brisbane
We are doing it differently this year and made the call after Moreton Bay locked in their approach, which is why Moreton Bay and Brisbane are different (in case you are wondering).
Participation and the resources are $145 - $295 depending on the number of performances and show size and can be paid up front or with a small instalment and the remainder paid from your box office after the run of your show. More details here.
6. Do I have to present my show "anywhere but a theatre?"
Moreton Bay has a strong connection and access to community halls that are the closest you will get. Brisbane is about making anywhere the stage. Audiences flock to Anywhere Festival to discover locations and new performance makers turning those spaces into something. Although we don't say an outright "No" to using theatres, you will need to have a convincing case that is less aimed at the Anywhere Festival curation team and more at audiences who can go see a show in a theatre pretty much any day which is why they look for something different at Anywhere Festival.
7. Can interstate and international acts apply?
Unfortunately, as much as we would love to have international acts, Anywhere Festival is not in a position to support international acts with visas or to supply the resources and support we know you would expect and require to make it financially worthwhile.
For interstate acts, we suggest to think carefully about your budget to ensure that Anywhere Festival, in which the average audience capacity is between 40 - 50 people will be financially doable once travel, accommodation are factored in.
Additionally, Anywhere Festival in Brisbane and Moreton Bay are curated and limited in size with a focus on local acts. With a strong demand locally, we are unlikely to have the capacity to say yes to interstate and international acts.
