Anywhere Festival Secures $34,950 Grant from Gambling Community Benefit Fund

Empowering Artists with Long-Term Resources to tell stories anywhere.

Anywhere Festival is thrilled to announce its successful application for a $34,950 grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. This significant funding will be dedicated to providing vital resources for artists, ensuring the continued growth and sustainability of the festival and its community of creatives.

This generous grant will enable Anywhere Festival to provide technical resources that can be provided at any time for artists to present performances anywhere. Key initiatives include:

  1. Artist Development Programs: The grant will fund workshops, mentorship programs, and professional development opportunities, empowering artists with the skills and knowledge needed to advance their careers.
  2. Resources to perform anywhere: Artists will have access to technical gear that allows for a simple sounds, lighting set up with audience seating and signage along with power option regardless of access.
  3. Marketing and Promotion: Enhanced marketing support will help artists reach broader audiences, both locally and globally, increasing their visibility regardless of where they are performing
  4. Box Office: The grant will facilitate a completely free box office system. With all current box office systems and festivals taking anything from 5-40% of an artists income, a total free box office system makes it possible for artists to pay themselves instead of box office fees.

Founder and Festival Director Paul Osuch expressed excitement about the grant’s potential impact:

“This funding from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund isn’t a game-changer for Anywhere Festival. But it is a game changer for artists. Our focus on long-term development and community engagement sets us apart and ensures that the benefits of this grant will be felt for years to come.”

This application was about resources that are available and usable immediately by artists. Anywhere Festival believes festivals and theatre should be thinking of the artists first instead of applying for money that is first and foremost about keeping the festival structure paid for.

“Too often we see festivals putting themselves first before considering what happens to artists when a festival decides to skip a year while they “investigate how to be sustainable”, said Paul. “I can guarantee you that when it comes down to it those festivals will always put the money into keeping their infrastructure solvent instead of just going to the artists.

This grant will help build a robust infrastructure that nurtures talent and creativity year-round, creating a lasting legacy for the arts community.

Over the next five years alone it is expected that the resources provided by this grant will make it possible for approximately 270 performances makers to create 63 productions of theatre, music, comedy, circus, poetry, dance anywhere without having to hire venues or equipment that would otherwise cost artists approximately $240,000.
