See shows for free for a review or photographs
The Anywhere Festival Brisbane is back, running from 19 July to 4 August 2024, and we have an incredible opportunity for passionate arts enthusiasts! “See as many shows as you want, and we’ll give you free tickets – what the actual!?”
This year, we are continuing our celebrated Anywhere Reviewer and Anywhere Photographer program, which has been a staple since the festival’s inception in 2011. Participants will receive one or two tickets to various shows throughout the festival, in exchange for writing a review or capturing the event in photographs.
The program was set up as a way to encourage critical dialogue between audiences and performers in an environment where the number of published reviewers in Brisbane is small and the avenues are limited. Performance makers constantly rate highly the value of photographs and independent reviews from different voices as an important part of their own process of performing and developing their audiences further.
How It Works:
- Reviews: In the past, reviews have ranged from 200-300 word pieces to creative formats like videos on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, and even three-minute improvised songs.
- Photographs: All photos will be featured in our social media photo albums and on the reviews page of our website – our second most popular page after the payment page.
What’s the Catch?
- Reviews and photographs must be uploaded within 24 hours.
- Not all shows are seeking reviews or photographers.
- Ideally, we want you to attend the first performance date of the shows.
- You must be independent and can not be connected to the show you are reviewing
Whether you want to cover a few shows or immerse yourself in as many as possible, this is a fantastic opportunity to engage with the arts community and gain experience.

- Get Ready: We will lock in the shows you’ll be covering, provide you with helpful guides, and offer a preparation session.
