In 3bCreative’s “A Stretch of the Imagination” audiences will be reminded how a leap of imagination – and faith – are the essence of theatre. A larger than life, poetic, intimate, freewheeling work “Stretch” sweeps the audience in to complete it’s creation. Bold and absurd , it defiantly speaks about Australians. It speaks to our to our history and our imagined history, its possibilities for the future in ways wildly relevant and distinctive .

James Patrick Reed creates a distinctive, almost heroic “Monk O’Neill” and his turns of phrase and ironies bring him to muscular, physical life . Ever the larrikin in his a last bitter sweet struggle, as he shuffles, fighting off the inevitable in a landscape of memory he has stored away and is trying to make sense of. In each quicksilver turn – manic, febrile, cheeky Reed displays a physical and technical range as a performer that is astonishing.
