Titillate, tantalise and tickle the animal in us all in HOWL

 HOWL MEDIA RELEASE

Frankie Felon and Malakeh present HOWL: A traditional vaudeville-inspired cabaret variety show, designed to titillate, tantalise and tickle the animal in us all.

An immersive encounter within the catacombs of the Raven Cellar bar, we’ll give you something to howl about!

Meanjin performers and friends Frankie Felon and Malakeh have joined forces to create a new show inspired by their love of classic burlesque, vaudeville shows, and alternative subculture.

Frankie Felon’s love affair with burlesque, sideshow and performance began in 2012 while searching for… something to call a Talent to perform in her first major pageant – Miss Ink Australia. While she didn’t win the crown that year (she did take it home in 2017, thank you very much), it certainly set her on the right path.

Before long, Frankie found herself deeply immersed in a world of sparkling rhinestones, old-worth glamour and the art of The Tease. From there, things took a turn for the odd as her infatuation for things mildly offbeat and slightly shocking came to the forefront in the form of fire and sideshow arts. Her signature act, the now trademarked Full Fire Striptease is her more beloved and requested act, and is truly a feast for the senses.

Malakeh started as a baby dancer in the traditional dance world, but was always the weird kid, and later, the weird goth kid. She fell in love with Middle Eastern dance as an adult dancer. The obsession only grew, extending to sideshow, burlesque, and beyond, finding space for her style in the corners of the fringe dance world. A child of the West but a disciple of the East, she co-founded Eunoia Dance Company and has produced, directed, and taught for 12 years, forging her own fusion style that earnt her tagline. The Bass. The Beat. The Beast.

Premiering at Anywhere Festival 2025, HOWL features three shows in series; Animinalia, Afflication, Atmos. Join us for three Fridays in a row – 18 July, 25 July and 1 August. With each show featuring a different cast, attend one show – or all three for the full experience.
