SPORTSBALL brings comedy showdown to Anywhere Festival

MEDIA RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Improv Queensland is set to shake up the Anywhere Festival with their groundbreaking comedy show that finally bridges the gap between sports enthusiasts and skeptics alike. SPORTSBALL, the one-of-a-kind improvised sports comedy extravaganza, will premiere at Kurilpa Hall West End on 27th of July and the 2nd and 3rd of August.

SPORTSBALL creates a hilarious middle ground where athletic prowess meets unscripted comedy in a format that promises to entertain regardless of your relationship with sports. Drawing inspiration from hit shows like Taskmaster, QI, and Thank God You’re Here, this innovative production transforms sports culture into comedy gold.

“We wanted to create something that both celebrates and lovingly mocks sports culture,” says Glenn Seaby, one the show’s directors from Improv Queensland. “In SPORTSBALL, we’ve crafted an experience where everyone – from die-hard sports fans to those who actively avoid anything athletic – can come together and laugh.”

The show features a team of Improv Queensland’s most agile performers tackling absurd physical challenges, navigating quiz questions, and delivering spontaneous sports inspired scenes. Audiences can expect the unexpected as improvisers sweat through games and sporty scenes.

“It’s unpredictable, unrehearsed, and completely unfiltered,” adds co-director Liz Talbot. “One minute you might see us attempting to make sense of a sports headline and the next participating in a bizarre athletic adventure.”

SPORTSBALL is part of the 2025 Anywhere Festival, Brisbane’s celebration of performance in unexpected spaces.
