Review: This is Your Trial
Review and images by Georgia Haupt
This is Your Trial delivers verdict after verdict of pure comedic gold through brilliant improvised courtroom chaos. This interactive show puts audience members on trial for their heinous crimes as accused by their loved ones – from farting too loud causing fear and insomnia, to messy cars resulting in toe loss (yes…toe loss…you had to be there), or subjecting others to excessive guitar solos.

Beware who you bring, because the tables may turn faster than you can say “objection!” The actors demonstrate the best use of audience participation I’ve ever witnessed, seamlessly weaving accusations and defences into a strong, relatable performance that feels both spontaneous and expertly crafted.
Prepare for loads of laughs and therapeutic catharsis as you publicly shame loved ones for their petty crimes. The rest of the audience serves as jury, delivering verdicts based on applause volume for “guilty” or “innocent” – no unanimous decision required. It’s very legit, very serious legal proceedings, your honor.

This show proves that justice can be hilarious, offering audiences a case-closed guarantee of entertainment. The performers’ ability to think on their feet while maintaining comedic timing makes This is Your Trial an absolutely compelling experience that will leave you in contempt…of boring theatre.
This is Your Trial will be showing again as part of Anywhere Festival Brisbane on July 18th and 25th and August 1st at the Raven Hotel Cellar, West End. This show is the perfect Friday night out – don’t miss it!
