Review: Chaos Theory by Aaron Ducker

Aaron Duckers “Chaos Theory” performance in the Anywhere Festival was an hour long show that took the audience on a journey into the theory that every tiny gesture, movement and breath taken has an impact greater than we may ever know.

Held at the Northside Studio Brisbane, Ducker prompted the intimate audience to think about the pivotal moments in our life that have shaped the course of our journey. With a minimal set up and props, he invited the audience to take part in predictions, shuffling cards and completing puzzles throughout the performance. He wowed the audience by sharing the first magic trick he ever learned – teleporting a 5 cent coin into an unopened can of soft drink. Ducker also left many scratching their heads wondering how he swallowed and regurgitate 5 razor blades without a single drop of blood to be seen. While some other tricks and techniques needed more development, Duker’s performance exhibited a quirky sense of humour with a dry delivery to share magic as a form of communication and connection.

Ducker ended the show by answering the question, “Can we change the world by simply existing?” with a sentimental message about living on your own terms by embracing opportunities and living in a world of endless possibility.

I am a local Sunshine Coast teacher who has taught in the 'The Arts' for 10+ years with a special interest in Musical Theatre. I love experiencing all kinds of theatre and regularly attend local performances as well as venturing to the city to experience larger-scale productions. Anywhere Festival is a great showcase of local talent and I am so excited to be reviewing The Little Shop of Horrors while attending a few others on the Coast.
