Profile – Maurie Badra

Mauri was born in Argentina, South America. After getting a degree as an accountant, he dropped everything to pursue his artistic career. First he started exploring as an actor, then taking photographs, to end up making films. Mauri created YOSOYDELMUNDO ( YSDM ) an independent film production company.

After making his first steps as a film on the land where he was born, Mauri heard the call of Australia.
Living in the Forest and diving in the Pacific Ocean changed forever his way of perceiving the natural world. He deeply connected with this Country Spirit and Wildlife.

Mauri feels that staying behind a camera it’s not enough. Engaging in regenerative actions is the way he feels he can contribute back.

Mauri’s dream is to be able to get these lessons and knowledge back to his birth land and contribute to heal and regenerate a shattered South America.

Thanks to the visionary support of the Sunshine Coast Council Creative Industries Investment Program, Anywhere Festivals is thrilled to announce Maurie Badra as one of the first three creatives Supported by Anywhere Festivals—a groundbreaking new initiative designed to elevate creative work beyond the conventional.

Attendees will enjoy watching short films centered around environmental, forest, ocean, nature-related topics.

Through a collection of thought-provoking short films and an engaging Q&A session, the screening night aims to inspire positive action, promote ecological consciousness, and to raise crucial funds to support the completion of the documentary project “EnvironmentArt Stories”, rooted in values of environmental stewardship and creative storytelling.

The event welcomes the local community, environmentalists, filmmakers, artists, students, and individuals of all ages. Participation from First Nations and Torres Strait Islanders representatives is encouraged.

The event fosters community engagement, raising awareness about the urgent need to protect native forests, ocean health status and promoting ecological consciousness.

Our screening night event is a dedicated effort to secure funds for the completion of our documentary, “EnvironmentArt Stories,” which embodies the mission of amplifying ecological consciousness. Simultaneously, we are committed to giving back to the environment by considering the donation of a portion of proceeds to a reputable environmental organization. This two-fold approach encapsulates our commitment to both the success of our documentary and broader environmental impact.

The heart of the event lies in showcasing a carefully curated selection of 3 to 5 short films, including documentaries and animations, that passionately depict forest-related themes. Through compelling storytelling and captivating visuals, the films will inspire attendees to connect with nature and recognize the urgency of preserving our precious forests.
