Proposed Project
IYE is a puppetry and circus performance for children and families, involving audience participation.
Synopsis: After the big melt people learned to adapt and survive, but music and art had been forgotten. When a young girl digs up an ancient harp from the last layers of permafrost in old Siberia, worlds of long ago become closer than she imagined.
My academic and creative research is centred around the development and reformation of cultures. The play explores what the future might look like if more and more humans were to occupy the polar regions, as places closer to the equator become too warm to inhabit. The word İye, the title of the play, means spirit. The play explores the idea of environmental entities having personhood and rights.
