Step into the woods for a 70-minute theatrical journey that asks: Would you rather be trapped in the woods with a man or a bear? This immersive, verbatim show, The Bear Truth, takes audiences on an unforgettable adventure through real-life conversations with people from all walks of life, capturing raw and authentic answers to the viral question.
Co-written by Lizzy Stanfield Flores and Cherish Zimmerle, The Bear Truth delves into a subject that is as thought-provoking as it is divisive, inviting audiences to explore the power of vulnerability and empathy. The play features real interviews with individuals from communities across the country, weaving their voices together into a deeply resonant narrative that examines the complexities of human connection, fear, humor, and hope.
As the title suggests, the question posed is simple, but the answers are anything but. With heart, humor, and a little bit of wildness, The Bear Truth sparks thought-provoking conversations and reflections on personal safety, trust, and the unexpected places where we find understanding. By centering real stories, the play allows audiences to experience the diverse perspectives of those who may see the world through completely different lenses—and reminds us all that empathy is a bridge that can connect even the most unlikely of companions.
