“INFLUENTIAL” THEATRE COMPANY ANNOUNCES CASTING FOR A BOLD NEW WORK ABOUT ONLINE FAME
Brisbane, QLD – Pushing the envelope of contemporary performance, Vacant Collective Theatre makes its powerful return to the Anywhere Festival in 2025 with a brand-new performance piece on the unique challenges of the social media age.
Founded in 2016, Vacant Collective is a Brisbane-based ensemble driven by authentic storytelling that challenges societal norms around race, gender, and sexuality. The company was created to provide a “vacant” space for emerging artists to create original, progressive work, and it continues that legacy this year with an original performance that challenges conventions and addresses life in a disconnected age.
TOO MUCH INFLUENCE is staged in true Anywhere Festival spirit: outside the constraints of conventional theatre. Step into the living room of a busy influencer sharehouse to experience the raw emotions of relationships gone awry. As friendships collapse and rivalries run hot, see what can lie beneath the pristine images of social media, and allow yourself to question, “What is the true price of influence?”
‘Too Much Influence’ Cast features:
Darcy Harries as Max
Will Collits as Jesse
Sally Jacobs as Alex
Liana Hanson as Charlie
Director Laura “ElleJay” Bayly says, “This piece exists in the tension between vulnerability and resistance. It’s about looking deeper into the power of influencers”
Catch Vacant Collective’s show at A private residence in Ashgrove for a limited run of shows – July 19th, 2025.
