Blow the Men Down presented by Flaming Carnations

Blow the Men Down written and produced by Julia Cox is a raucous and chaotic comedy performed by the newly launched Flaming Carnations.

The show opens with Captain Marko Polo lamenting the pirate world is being ruined by women and their ‘feminine hogwash’ and wants to return the ‘manly rule of piracy to the 8 seas’. His first mate has to clarify there are only 7 seas and the laughs continue from there with a ragtag crew of ‘men’ on the ship that appears to have been infiltrated by a woman. And so the search begins to reveal the woman on board with ploys and innuendos and lots of laughs!

The Flaming Carnations is a new local production company  founded by emerging artists in the growing independent arts scene and great to see a creative arts venue like the Paint Factory at Yeronga supporting the ventures.

There’s heaps of free parking and food trucks on the night I was there but keep in mind, the show is in an industrial building so it was cold. Take your woollies, sit back and enjoy the fast paced humour and innovation of the performers as they ‘blow the men down’.
