Anywhere Festival Unveils 2024 Program

The Anywhere Festival is back with a bang, offering a unique and affordable cultural experience from 19 July to 4 August 2024. The festival will feature 172 performances across 60 productions in 35 unconventional venues around Brisbane.

Highlights:

  • Eclectic Performances: Enjoy theatre, comedy, music, dance, circus, poetry, magic, film, and walking tours from both established and emerging artists.
  • Unique Venues: Experience shows in nooks and crannies like pole gyms, cemeteries, dog parks, backyards, airport lounges, warehouses, and churches.
  • Local Suburbs: Performances will take place in Albion, Archerfield, Ashgrove, Banyo, Brisbane City, Fairfield, Fortitude Valley, Kangaroo Point, Moorooka, Mount Coot-tha, Morningside, South Brisbane, Tingalpa, Toowong, West End, Windsor, Woolloongabba, Yeerongpilly, Yeronga, with additional shows in Ipswich and Conondale.

Special Shows:

  • Leah Cotterall’s Cabaret: Returning to the South Brisbane Cemetery with “WHISTLING PAST THE GRAVEYARD”.
  • Historic Hub: The old Taubmans Paint Factory in Yeronga will host 11 different shows from 2-4 August.
  • Innovative Streaming: Stream the play “MAKING IT UP” by Canadian playwright Norm Reyns.
  • Circus Cabaret: Late-night performances at a city pole gym with “AERIALICIOUS”.
  • World Premieres: Over half the program features world premieres, including “DESTRUCTIVE NATURE” in a famous little Queenslander in South Brisbane.

Festival Vision: Founder and Festival Director Paul Osuch emphasizes creating accessible and affordable performances. “We aim to bring art to where people live, work, and walk, making it possible for artists to perform and audiences to enjoy without the high costs of traditional venues,” said Osuch.

Support and Community: Anywhere Festival is proudly supported by the Queensland Government with $80,000 annually and $35,000 from Brisbane City Council, alongside $1.2 million in-kind support from venues and partners. “Our investment supports artist jobs, new works, and accessible cultural experiences,” said The Honourable Leeanne Enoch MP, Minister for the Arts.
