In a world of hyper-connectedness and oversharing, public figures are digitally distributing everything from their skin routines to their baby’s first steps. Authentic intimacy has become a product, and any good product needs to adapt to its market. Parasocial Parallax places the audience into the role of Mack’s biggest fans – members of Mack’s ‘Family’ whom she hides nothing from. You are welcomed to witness love, laughter, and lies – live. Audience members can even participate via Neuralink – voting for what they want Mack, her husband, and young kids to do. Millions are watching, and they know what they want to see.
Written, performed and produced by a team of emerging artists, Parasocial Parallax gives meaningful control of the story to the audience and promises a different experience each show, with 6 distinct endings to be unlocked. Doving into the real and manufactured, come and question the lines between mutual, one-sided, and parasocial relationships.
Performing as a part of Anywhere Festival, Parasocial Parallax will be presented at Woolloongabba’s The Cave Inn, with three shows a night on the 5th, 7th, 13th, 14th, 19th and 22nd of May, at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm. While each show stands in its own right, buying multiple tickets allows you to play and replay, unlocking different story routeseach time. Every night has three 30 minute shows, with 30 minutes in-between. Grab food and drink from the bar between shows, and plan which path you and your friends will vote for next time. Your vote will matter, so choose what you deserve.
