Profile – Micaela Valerio
Micaela Valerio and Maria Florencia Giuliani are freelance contemporary dancers and performers from Argentina, currently based on the Sunshine Coast. With formal training in contemporary dance, acrobatics and ballet, the duo is united by their shared passion for movement, expression, and innovation.
Due to the visionary support of the Sunshine Coast Council Creative Industries Investment Program, Anywhere Festivals is thrilled to announce Micaela Valerio and Maria Florencia Giuliani as creatives Supported by Anywhere Festivals—a groundbreaking new initiative designed to elevate creative work beyond the conventional.
Drawing from their extensive experience in Argentina’s vibrant dance scene, they collaborate to create dynamic, thought-provoking works. Their choreography delves into the emotional and physical dimensions of dance.
The music, composed by Chucho Bruno, plays a pivotal role in shaping their performances. A highly versatile artist with a rich trajectory, Chucho has composed scores for films, directed music for multidisciplinary performances, and collaborated with visual artists to fuse music with other art forms. His work seamlessly integrates cultural influences with contemporary sounds, adding profound depth to the collective’s artistic vision.
About the concept
Hotline is a minimalistic 45min performance which combines live music, contemporary dance and spoken word.
The overall message of ‘Hotline’ is to illuminate the complexities of mental health through the lens of contemporary dance, music, and spoken word. Our performance seeks to evoke empathy, resilience, and solidarity among our audience members. By exploring themes of vulnerability and strength, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of mental health issues and underscore the crucial role of community support in overcoming challenges. Through our collaborative efforts, we aspire to leave a lasting impact that encourages reflection and dialogue about these important societal issues.
