Hey everyone, it’s Abril LaTrene here! Over the past 2.5 years, my journey as a full-time entertainer in the arts industry has been a rollercoaster, navigating the challenges of securing respectable appearance fees while working in hospitality venues amidst a cost of living crisis. Drag has faced negative agendas against our LGBTQIA+ community, particularly targeting our trans siblings. This needs to change.

Elevating Drag in 2024

In 2024, my focus is on elevating drag to be a more celebrated and respected art form and business. My mission is to create events that unite us, celebrating our commonalities rather than dividing our already marginalised community further.

Introducing That Drag Show! ?

This vision has culminated in my most ambitious project yet: That Drag Show! A show where all talent is respectfully remunerated, and where visibility of our LGBTQIA+ community is central. Regardless of drag style or genre, we come together to celebrate the art form we love. I aim to reduce the exploitation of artists by some event promoters and hospitality venues and demonstrate that investing in such projects is not only financially viable but also a community-minded endeavour. It’s about being the change I want to see in the drag community, rather than waiting for someone else to do it.

Core Cast: This sensational event features Southeast Queensland’s finest drag talent, including Abril LaTrene, Ja’mie Displays, Karmin Dioxide, and Kelly Roberts, alongside dancers Mitchell and Lauren.
