Anywhere Theatre Festival has worked with over 353 partners since 2011, providing an estimated $9m in benefits through leveraged branding, introducing new customers, providing added value for existing customers and networking opportunities.

Queensland Government

For seven years, Anywhere Theatre Festival has worked with the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland to create opportunities for local independent artists to present work, to demonstrate how the arts can add value to local businesses and provide unique cultural (and let’s not forget, fun) experiences anywhere but a theatre.

Involvement represents more than just financial support; the team at Arts Queensland have consistently encouraged us to strive for better governance, growth and helped us to hone our creative business model to make Anywhere Theatre Festival better than it otherwise could be.

Brisbane Marketing and Brisbane City Council

Anywhere Theatre Festival would like to thank Brisbane City Council and Brisbane
Marketing
for their ongoing support in ensuring the success of the festival and making it easy to perform.  Council were key in the development of the Anywhere Theatre app and website through Creative Sparks funding, while Brisbane Marketing elevated the awareness of the event.

WOLLONGONG CITY COUNCIL, DESTINATION WOLLONGONG AND WOLLONGONG CENTRAL

Anywhere Theatre Festival Wollongong is supported by Wollongong City Council, Destination Wollongong and Wollongong Central. This project has been assisted by the Australian government through the Department of Communication and the Arts Catalyst—Australian Arts and Culture Fund.

WOLLONGONG CITY COUNCIL

Our City’s vibrant and varied cultural life celebrates the diverse heritage of all those who call Wollongong home. Supporting innovation within, and the growth of, our wide-ranging creative communities is a key part of the role we play at Wollongong City Council.

That’s why, one of the six community goals in our Community Strategic Plan, Wollongong 2022, is to foster a ‘creative, vibrant city’ and another goal is to have a community that is ‘connected and engaged’. It’s why we have a Cultural Plan, the reason we have initiatives to identify opportunities to foster our City’s evening economy, and the motivation behind free community-focused events like Viva la Gong and Comic Gong.

Finally, it’s also why we throw our support behind events such as the Anywhere Theatre Festival. If theatre can, and does, happen anywhere then why not watch and celebrate it in our own City?

DESTINATION WOLLONGONG

Wollongong is a transitioning city – and events such as Anywhere Theatre Festival are at the heart of this dynamic. Our major events portfolio has always boasted an impressive range of sporting and lifestyle offerings, but it’s the arts and hospitality sectors that have championed individuality and changed perceptions.

This event is the perfect showcase for Wollongong’s burgeoning small bar and café scene, of which 65 have opened in the past three and half years. So, too, the Wonderwalls street art festival has provided colour and character to the quirky spots and cosy corners.

Now the stage is set (or stages, to be more precise) for an eclectic band of performers to enthral and entertain us in places and spaces we might not otherwise have visited or given credence. It’s a wonderful concept – artistic, inclusive and just the right pinch of whacky – and one that we hope the region warmly embraces. These are the types of events we need. They can take us . . . anywhere.

WOLLONGONG CENTRAL
