Presented by InsideOutside Theatre Company
From the creators of Remembering Shakespeare 2019 (Anywhere Festival special mention) and Full Steam Ahead – a Murder Mystery in 2018, comes this brand new show The Monster’s Mother.
Its conception has been a long time in the making and draws on the lead creator’s loss of her own mother and journey with her youngest son. We have assembled a strong female team of diverse performers and creatives to bring this piece to life.
Through a creative workshop process, we are presenting verbatim tales from mothers past and present and creating a link with the myth of Sycorax, a ‘witch’ who was banished from her home and isolated on an island occupied by spirits where she gave birth to her son, Caliban. In turn this became the island to which Prospero is later banished in Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
This new theatrical work will appeal to anyone who is or has a mother and we hope the passion and commitment to womanhood from our carefully assembled team will be thought provoking and moving.

ACCESSIBILITY INFO
We feel it is important to make our work accessible but also appreciate the limitations when using non traditional spaces. Accessible toilets are essential and Auslan interpretation would be great even if only for one performance at each venue (out of two).
