Presented by Betty Nicholson, Lyn Panetta and Anywhere Festival.
‘Pictures, Pianos and Portrayals’ is a performance of a powerful two piano arrangement based on Ravel’s orchestration of Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’. The context of Mussorgsky’s work is the composer promenading through an exhibition of his friend’s paintings which portray various personalities, structures and scenarios.
Betty Nicholson and Lyn Panetta met in their teens when they were studying music together and it was then that they discovered the magic and fun of playing two piano works together. They have explored many two-piano works from the repertoire and performed in 2022 as part of both the Anywhere and Brisbane Fringe Festivals.
THE TWO PERFORMANCES at 5pm on Sunday May 14th and 21st will have as a background the Royal Queensland Art Society’s ‘Brisbane: Landmarks, Landscapes and Personalities’ exhibition which takes place at Petrie Terrace Gallery from 12th May to 4th June.
The Petrie Terrace Gallery, home of the Royal Queensland Art Society (Brisbane Branch) Inc. is located at Unit 3, 162 Petrie Terrace, Brisbane, (just up from Roma St) and is easily accessible by car or public transport.
