The Neon Light Still Shines: A Neon Sign Bus Tour is presented by Chris Osborne from Australian Modern and Michael ‘Mr Neon’ Blazek from Neon Signs Australia.
The bus tour will begin and end from the mid-century modernist home of Australian Modern in Carina, where you can also view a private neon collection. Australian Modern has been a private home venue for the Anywhere Festival for seven years, featuring sold out performances every year.
Previous shows have been the Gin and Sin Cabaret, The Bossa Nova Sunset Club, Melissa Western in Concert, Gritty Pearls with Barbara Fordham and Annie Morris, the Angel Strings Ensemble, and Topology.
This year we have expanded our program to include a unique Brisbane by night tour highlighting the art of Neon signs. Michael Blazek is Mr Neon, and he will be sharing his knowledge of the design, manufacture and history of neon signs in the suburbs of Brisbane .
The tour will also include the opportunity to view a demonstration of the art of glass bending, during our visit to the Neon Signs Australia workshop at East Brisbane.
