Presented by Madcouch Productions and Anywhere Festival.
French waltzes, uptempo swing and gypsy bossas: it’s hot club heaven in a tiki bar with one of Queensland’s most vibrant Gypsy Jazz/manouche bands. Taking inspiration from the legendary Django Reinhardt, this passionate music is brought to life by Rodrigo Santiago (guitar), Mircha Mangiacotti (guitar) and Roberto Fontana (trumpet).
The trio have taken their music to concert stages across Queensland and interstate, and appeared twice at the OzManouche Festival, Australia’s only festival dedicated to this music.
Celebrated for their originals songs as much as their exciting interpretations of gypsy jazz classics, you could be forgiven for thinking you’ve stepped into a 1930s underground Paris music club (were it not for the bamboo walls and a strange desire to order a Mai Tai!)
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to get up close and personal with the debonair Cats and witness their superb musicianship and camaraderie in a most unique setting.
This performance is at The Wawahine Lounge, an inner-south tiny tiki bar masquerading as a backyard shed. The address for this private home will be provided on purchase of ticket.
Please feel welcome to bring a bottle of wine to enjoy with your friends pre and post-show.
Running concurrently with the concerts is an exhibition of hand-carved tikis by artist Tiki Stacey.
