Anywhere 2021 Launch

Critiquing the Arts – An Anywhere Festival Training Program

April 27, 2021 @ 6:30 pm

Anywhere Festival

A compulsory session for new Anywhere Festival reviewers and an excellent refresher for reviewers coming back for another Anywhere Festival

If you aren’t already a reviewer and want to get along to Anywhere shows and write reviews, this session led by Nadia Jade of Nothing Ever Happens in Brisbane is the one you need to attend.

Why do we do it? What is its value? How can it add value to the arts eco system? Who gets to do it? Why do different voices matter? Is anything ever really objective? How can the subjective experience of a writer improve the experience for artist and audience?

And how do we literally do it? Do we write notes, carry a laptop? What kind of turnaround? What kind of style points? What kind of language? How do we improve? How do we edit our own work?

THIS SESSION IS RUN BY ANYWHERE FESTIVAL AND NADIA JANE

Nadia Jade is a Brisbane-based creative, circus producer and entrepreneur. She is the Editor-in-Chief of alt-arts media site Nothing Ever Happens in Brisbane. As well as being a sideshow performer, she’s also been an international radio DJ, run UK megaclubs, and worked for festival and production houses the world over. She has a flair for promoting independent and underground arts on the proverbial zero-dollar budget, and she will help you to think about marketing in a whole new way.
