Presented by Contra Guitar Duo and Anywhere Festival.

Experience the contrast and synchronicity of two guitars.

Opposing yet complementary performers can create thrilling artistry – this is the basis on which Contra Guitar Duo was formed by Hamish Strathdee and Emma-Shay Gallenti-Guilfoyle.

This concert is a celebration of the guitar and its diversity and reflects the duo’s unique personality and musical inspirations. Having met at their university auditions in 2011, the couple have travelled the world together, sharing their infectious love for the classical guitar.

Their program juxtaposes European classical music with exciting contemporary Australian repertoire and works inspired by the rich traditions of Brazilian folk music. After being based in Germany for five years, the duo has recently moved back home to Australia and is thrilled to return to their roots and present a concert in Brisbane.

This concert is in two halves with an interval.

This performance is at The Paint Factory, a creative space with an industrial edge on Hyde Road in Yeronga.
