Red Poles 11: A home in Gordon Park (location released to ticket holders closer to the event date)
Set (quite literally) against the burning Queensland sun, A Couch in the Cane is home-bred, home-hitting and home-bound. This May, we invite you to make yourself at home, as we present to you an original work that has only been staged once before as a part of QUT’s Potentia: Festival of Future Theatre. Described as a “richly textured, warmly felt and occasionally gently humorous theatrical experience” (Bridget Boyle), A Couch in the Cane makes it Anywhere Festival debut in the comfort of a Brisbane home located in the quiet residence of Gordon Park.
Gordon Park is Brisbane’s smallest suburb and home to Red Poles 11 – a venue which lends itself perfectly to intimacy and immersion in a “poetic exploration of home, friendship, and belonging”. Join us before the performance for some home-made snacks and an open bar in support of RAW Impact as a part of a local school charity initiative. Then engage in discussion around the potent issues currently facing Queenslander’s today, and participate in the further development of the work (and check out a cosy corner of Brisbane while you’re at it!)
