The Giddy Round Theatre
A failed ruler reflects on his precipitous fall from power.
This solo performance of Shakespeare's Richard II finds Richard reflecting on the circumstances that caused his fall from power and his imprisonment, conjuring the people and the scenes of his history, utilizing intricate, kinetic body-puppetry and a host of voices and characterizations. A product of the social and civic turmoil of the past year, the play grapples with themes of isolation, civil dislocation and political upheaval, with playfulness and honesty.
