The Ceilidh Clan are a Brisbane-based collective of musicians who are passionate about traditional Scottish music and dancing. Coming together over ten years ago, The Ceilidh Clan specialise in running authentic Scottish ceilidhs, both within the community and for weddings and other special events. The Ceilidh Clan particularly love the inclusivity that a ceilidh can offer – it is suitable for all ages and allows for a beautiful connection between guests, along with a huge amount of fun!

Current members of the Clan include:

  • Emma Nixon: Lead fiddle
  • Donald McKay: Dance caller, bodhran
  • Nicole Murray: Dance caller, fiddle, flute
  • Rebecca Wright: Cello
  • Davydd McDonald: Guitar

Similar to an Aussie bush dance, a ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) is a Scottish gathering where dances are taught, walked through, and then ‘called’ to live music. No previous experience is necessary to participate.
