Melissa Elvira Billington

Melissa Elvira Billington

Melissa Elvira Billington is adept at bridging worlds. She originally hails from the US, but is also a NZ citizen.

Her current studies at UQ in environmental science stand in seeming opposition to prior/ongoing long term careers in both the healing and creative arts. In the 10 years since her first solo show, PocaHauntUs – Shapeshifting History into HerStory, the world has woken up to embrace indigenous and feminist ways of being.

The premiere of Heaven On Earth showcases her own increased awareness and activism in those realms, as well as how they are inextricably linked to the health of our planet. Added insight comes from her long-term study of the celestial realms – as above, so below – and from her unglorious grapplings with stand-up comedy.

Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we present Anywhere Festival, the Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi, Jinibara, Turrbal and Yuggera Peoples. We wish to pay respect to their Elders - past, present and emerging - and acknowledge the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their stories continue to play.
