Andrew Gillanders

Andrew Gillanders

I consider myself an essayist who wraps his work in fiction because living with Bipolar-II, having grown up in rural Queensland, and after being fired for industrial action my work is often political and concerned with justice.

I get the most excited about drama and transdisciplinary work and I want to use my writing and leadership skills to advance social discussions in Australia.

I work across a range of different sorts of projects and try to contribute to my community in whatever way I can. The only reason I wouldn’t join a project, is if it didn’t have anything to say.

Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we present Anywhere Festival, the Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi, Jinibara, Turrbal and Yuggera Peoples. We wish to pay respect to their Elders - past, present and emerging - and acknowledge the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their stories continue to play.
