Anywhere Festival looking for performers to take over 3 states and 4 cities in 2015

Expressions of interest are now open for the 2015 Anywhere Festivals in Brisbane, Frankston, Mackay-Isaac and Parramatta next year.

Open to performers of any theatrical genre for performance anywhere but a theatre, Anywhere Festival is the first fringe festival that asks performers to apply just once to be based in four different cities throughout Australia.

Performers of comedy, cabaret, drama, poetry, puppetry, music – any performance style – can submit a free expression of interest until 4 December at

After four huge years, the annual Anywhere Festival Brisbane in May and an inaugural Anywhere Festival Frankston running now until 6 September, Anywhere is hitting the road in 2015 with two more locations.

“We’re heading north to Mackay and Isaac Regional Councils in Queensland in March and into New South Wales with the Anywhere Festival Parramatta in May,”said Paul Osuch, founder of Anywhere Festival.

“We are really excited that Frankston, Parramatta, Isaac and Mackay Councils have caught the Anywhere bug and we look forward to exploring their nooks and crannies in 2015, along with our hometown of Brisbane.”

The festival is yet again all about performance anywhere but a theatre, with performances in swimming pools, cafes, parks, offices, ships, play centres, but will also include other events outside performance this year.

“It is all about new models to make it possible for performers to plan to make money for their work instead of being asked to lose money,”said Paul.

Anywhere Festivals provides a globally unique framework so artists can take artistic risks without the financial risks associated with fringe festivals and independent producing because of rent free venues and a different approach to producing theatre.

Performance poet, Scott Wings has just received five star reviews and sell-out audiences with his Edinburgh Fringe show Icarus Falling. Scott has been part of the last two Anywhere Theatre Festivals, presenting work under the Storey Bridge and on a rooftop next to the Brisbane River.

For Scott, Anywhere was vital to the development of his work and talents as an artist:

“Anywhere Theatre Festival gives me the opportunity to explore my work in a high quality, supportive and extremely creative environment that is unique to performance art in Australia.”, said Scott.

“You can perform on the river. Or a mountain. In a shed. A car park. Do you realise how great it is to remove those comfort zones of stage and lighting? The traditional audience/entertainer relationships? It hones your work. Once you’ve performed on a riverbank in the dark, man, a theatre space seems easy…”

Expressions of interest are now open until 4 December at and proposed festival dates are:
