We are over the moon to announce that the Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland have provided $20,000 to go direct to Anywhere Festival artists performing at the 201 Anywhere Festival in Mackay Regional Council and Isaac Regional Council.
The $20,000 has been made available through an application to the Playing Queensland Fund to fund travel and accommodation for individuals and productions travelling from anywhere around Queensland to be part of Anywhere Festival from March 13-22 2015.
“This makes a huge difference to performers in our festival,” said Paul Osuch, CEO and Founder of Anywhere Festival. “The Anywhere Festival model of not using theatres already eliminates venue costs and minimises all the costs around it for artists.”
“The successful Playing Queensland Fund now means Queensland artists can get rid of the touring costs as well and that means residents in Mackay and Isaac Regional Councils will be able to get engaged in more diverse work at the same time.”
The Playing Queensland Fund supports the delivery of work that is already ready to tour, which has demonstrated community interest and confirmed demand to maximise opportunities for regional Queensland communities to experience high quality arts event, to increase the number and reach of touring activities and to support tours with a strong demonstration of demand.
The fund is only available to artists who expressed interest in Anywhere Festival Mackay Isaac. If you missed the Expression of Interest to be part of Anywhere Festival, get in contact with us at the link.
Anywhere Theatre Festival Ltd is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, part of the Department of Science, Information Technology, Innovation and the Arts. Anywhere Festival Isaac-Mackay is proudly supported by Mackay Regional Council and Isaac Regional Council.
