The real story behind the legend
Gretel explores the real story of this legendary girl. To start with there is no Hansel, and no mother to run away from.
Instead there is a village run by (and for) men, where women have no voice, no choice and no options. Gretel runs to the forest, where she meets witches, an ageless crow and her destiny.
Based on a story and characters devised by the whole cast, Gretel is a new show from the Scrambled Eggs Ensemble that uses music, movement and song to create a magical, challenging and sometimes frightening world in which Gretel must find her way.
Scrambled Eggs are a hardworking and dynamic ensemble of fifteen year old girls who are veterans of multiple festival appearances. The Adelaide advertiser called their debut original play “ terrific music theatre work… smart and talented.”
